RE: "THE CLERGY"
(WEBSITE POLL RESULTS)

Comments by Visitors to this Site

Earlier this year (2005) I started a poll on the TruthForFree.com website asking visitors what their perspective was concerning the Institutional Church system's proliferation of the clergy status. The question was asked, "Do you believe that the current, common form of church leadership is Biblical?" 107 people responded with their votes and comments. 93% (or 100 people) said that they do not believe the current system of church government is biblical. 3% (or 3 people) said they believe it is, and 4% (or 4 people) confessed that they weren't sure. I would like to thank all of those who took a few seconds to post your vote.

The second aspect of the poll allowed voters to also voice some of their personal convictions as to why they believe what they do. I wanted to share some of these with everyone (both pro and con) and keep at least a few of them available for review here, since that particular poll has been concluded. It's apparent that the majority of those who participated in the poll (93%) agree that the modern day form of church leadership is NOT biblical; however, a small populous of those who participated voiced the opinion that it is, though they also seemed to admit that there is room for improvement. Either way, it seems obvious that today's clergy system is not effectively modeling that which the New Testament envisions. Personally, I feel this is yet one more bit of evidence confirming that a revolution is brewing all over this country (and likely the world) and a growing number of believers are become more desperate for God and His truth rather than status quo religion. Praise God for that! May we never be distracted from our One Leader; Jesus Christ! As the Scripture declares, "the government rests on HIS shoulders!"

I do want to make note that some of these comments have been edited slightly for brevity sake and to correct a few spelling errors and punctuation. Not all comments have been included here; however, the opinions expressed have not been altered and each are fairly portrayed for review. I tried to pick a handful to show the bulk of the comments that were shared. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts and insights. I appreciate it very much and I hope others will be blessed and challenged by some of your perspectives.

In His grip,
David Yeubanks

"no, it will only change with persecution"

"The clergy can only be as organized and effective as people want them to be. Most do not want nor want to walk in the truth or the light because it does make us responisible to God for everything that does happen on earth. II chronicles 7:14. So is the current leadership Biblical? Yes, although instead of Following God and His ways we do what we do and call it God's will."

"Many people are about themselves and not the works that God would like them to do"

"I believe that anywhere the human heart travels the potential for corruption exists, whether in the church leadership or secular. Trying to bypass the authority of God is a temptation for all mankind."

"The Church has been institutionalized and formalized too much."

"some are doing it for the sake of money."

"Wow I thought I was alone in my feeling on this issue. I've been in the 'church' many years and have been so sick at what I have seen. I given so much money and seen leaders get rich and not care about people. Programs have taken presidence and if you can't submit to it all you're not a committed Christian. I am so confused at 50 years of age I decided to get out and try and find God again by myself. My relationship with God has never been better! How wonderful to know I'm not alone. I'll be visiting your site often. Thank you for Truth that sets us free!"

"It's from the doctrine of the Nico (hate) laitans (laiety). The Holy Spirit in Rev. 2:6 mentions detesting those who "clerge" over the "laiety."
